Emma is ONE!!  She just had her first ever birthday party this weekend, and it was a tropical paradise and a fabulous celebration of her first 365 days.  How do I know all of this?  Well, Victoria is one of my best friend’s friends.  We’d never met before, but I felt like I’d known her forever!

Together, we explored Oak Canyon Nature Center which is a super cool spot tucked away in Anaheim Hills!!  We didn’t have to go far for awesome photos, and we didn’t even scratch the surface of all the park has to offer, so I’ll definitely be back for some weekend nature walks.  These three amigos drove all the way from Temecula and graciously met me halfway.  Some of my favorite photos from their family session are the ones on the bridge – the light, the greens, mmm perfection!  Have fun!!  I know we did!  😉

It was 86 degrees with a wonderful breeze, and I pull up to a charming ranch-style home with blue trim – the location for Saturday’s backyard elopement-style wedding.  The beautiful bride, Rebecca, excitedly greets me outside.  She’s wearing my typical uniform, yoga pants and a tank top, and she is so cool and relaxed.  She shows me around, grabs some details for me to shoot, and enjoys some sweet mommy and me time with her spunky little girl.  Meanwhile, Scott is in the other room because the first time they see each other will be at the aisle.  Funny story – Scott sported the wrong coat in the earlier part of the day, and convinced himself that he’d gained weight and continued to rock it for a few photos until he realized he was wearing his friends coat. 😂

Thirty of their favorite people arrived and made their way into the backyard, which is made for this day! Chiavari chairs line the aisle to a birch arch draped with gray and dusty blue tulle.  Behind us were four tables lined with eucalptyus runners provided by the amazing Stems Floral Design, where guests and the newlyweds would soon enjoy a gourmet burger and french fry bar.  It was a beautiful evening and everything they had hoped for!

Rebecca even took the time to email me and thank me for sharing in their special day!  Are you kidding?!  Thank YOU for sharing your special day with me.  Congratulations and enjoy your tropical honeymoon, you two!!

I’ll let you scroll, and in the meantime, I’ll be planning my vow renewal in our backyard because this was so inspiring!!

Gang’s all here!

We went to a couple locations for their bride and groom portraits.  It allowed us some time away from guests, but also variety for their photographs.  Our first stop was Scott’s childhood home, and then we stopped at a small park nearby (one that may look familiar to some of my holiday photo families!).

It’s official, I have the CUTEST families ever! Seriously, it’s okay, peek ahead – look how adorable the Lewis family is! I’m so grateful to the families who still wanted to get their photos taken after I unfortunately couldn’t accommodate their holiday photos last December. I didn’t anticipate being so busy, and was so bummed to have to turn sweet folks like these away. Well, I’m so glad they came back to me, because I couldn’t imagine not having these four in the Pine & Sea family. We had such a great time exploring Santiago Oaks Regional Park together!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their family session!

Dustin and I had a double date with Christine and Mike before they hired me, and let me tell you, these two lawyers are the definition of chill.  For two people who work their butts off, they sure know how to have a good time, as witnessed at their epic engagement session!  They selected a few locations they loved for their engagement shoot, but ultimately left the decision up to me (#AWESOME).  So I said, let’s meet at this place and we’ll play it by ear, based on timing and lighting, and it was perfection.  I’ve never had anyone leave it open-ended like that before, and I kinda loved it.  We ended up squeezing in a few different locations and even had time to take a chip and wine break (yum!)!  I love these two, and I can’t wait for their wedding (they have a huge family so you know it’s going to be a PARTY!), which is officially ONE month away tomorrow!

Palos Verdes Engagement PhotographyTennis is a huge part of their relationship, so Mike brought his whole proposal set up!  From Christine, “He proposed 2 (yes TWO) days after taking the CA Bar (a 3 day, 18 hour exam – 12 of those hours typing like a madman), July 30, 2016. Despite my whining that it would be too hot to play tennis in July in Brea, he dragged me out to a beautiful national park (carbon canyon park in OC). We had actually gone there for valentine’s day (little did i know that he was scoping the place out!!). He had a picnic which was over prepared but he told me that it was leftovers his mom had given him for the bar, LOL. Then when we were walking to the courts to play tennis, he managed to get me to open a can of tennis balls and lo and behold, there was a ring box inside. I cried like a total loser.”

We experienced some scattered showers last weekend, but the clouds parted on Sunday afternoon for Mae and Ming’s wedding day.  I first met Mae through our mutual friend and had the honor of capturing her engagement session early this year.  Mae is so freakin’ cute and she has the sweetest laugh that wrinkles her nose, and Ming is the coolest cat and is always so calm and relaxed.  Mae asked me to document the “Getting Ready” portion of her and Ming’s wedding day, so of course I say “YES”!  The anticipation and excitement was bursting out of Room 2004 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Orange, CA.  Mae was getting her wedding glam on, while I started on detail shots, and every so often you’d hear her call out from the other room “Tre, you okay?” always checking in on me.  It’s her day and she’s making sure I’m okay?!  Who is this glorious human being?  Love you, girl!!  Thank you for including me on your wedding day!
